*SOLD* 1990 Ruger P85 9mm Blue 4 1/2" *BELOVED SEMI-AUTOMATIC P-SERIES PISTOL*

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:

The Ruger P-Series is a line of semi-automatic pistols manufactured by Sturm, Ruger & Co., widely respected for their durability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Designed for military, law enforcement, and civilian markets, these pistols were constructed using robust materials such as stainless steel and aluminum alloy, offering excellent corrosion resistance and long-term durability. The lineup includes models chambered in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP, with both double-action/single-action and decocker-only configurations available. The series began with the P85, introduced in 1985 to compete in the U.S. military’s XM9 pistol trials. Though it ultimately lost to the Beretta M9, the P85 stood out for its rugged construction and dependable performance. Early production models experienced some safety issues, prompting a recall and the release of the improved P85 MKII. This updated version, identifiable by the “MKIIR” stamp on the safety, resolved those concerns and laid the groundwork for the success of later models such as the P89, P90, and P95. This particular example does not feature the improved “MKIIR” stamped safety.
