*SOLD* 1991 Smith Wesson 610 10mm Stainless 5" *LIMITED PRODUCTION MODEL*

Bryant Ridge's Analysis

The Smith & Wesson Model 610 is a notable double-action revolver, distinguished by its chambering for the potent 10mm Auto cartridge. This six-shot revolver was originally introduced in 1990, manufactured on the robust N-frame—a framework akin to that used for the .44 Magnum Model 29 and the .357 Magnum Model 27/28. Its stainless steel finish and 5-inch barrel lend it both durability and precision. The revolver features a 1/8" pinned serrated ramp front sight paired with a micrometer click rear sight, which ensures accuracy and ease of adjustment. The grips are crafted from smooth Goncalo Alves wood, featuring finger grooves and silver S&W medallions, which provide a secure hold and a touch of elegance. Designed to handle the 10mm Auto, a rimless automatic pistol cartridge, the Model 610 uses moon clips to facilitate the loading and extraction of cartridges. Additionally, it is versatile enough to chamber and fire the .40 S&W round, which is a shorter, less powerful variant of the 10mm Auto but with the same diameter. Despite its promising design, the Model 610's initial run was short-lived due to a decline in the 10mm round’s popularity, leading to its retirement in 1992. Smith & Wesson reintroduced the Model 610 in 1998, incorporating several updates based on feedback from competitive shooters. The reintroduced model featured a firing pin relocated from the hammer to within the frame and included an internal safety lock, responding to the needs of the International Practical Shooting Confederation. The revolver was well-regarded for competitive matches, particularly within the International Defensive Pistol Association. In 2019, Smith & Wesson further refreshed the Model 610, offering it in 4-inch and 6-inch barrel lengths. These newer models retain the six-round capacity and stainless steel construction of their predecessors but now include black synthetic finger groove grips, a black blade interchangeable front sight, and an adjustable white outline rear sight. The 2019 versions continue to fire both 10mm Auto and .40 S&W cartridges, using the standard moon clips, and represent the latest evolution of this versatile and respected revolver.
