*SOLD* 1995 Sig Sauer P228 9mm Black 3.9" *POPULAR SEMI-AUTOMATIC HANDGUN*

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:

The SIG Sauer P228 is a compact, hammer-fired, double-action/single-action semi-automatic pistol, chambered in 9mm Parabellum, and built with a focus on military, law enforcement, and civilian defensive use. Introduced in the mid-1980s, the P228 features a lightweight anodized aluminum alloy frame paired with a stamped carbon steel slide, later replaced by a milled stainless steel slide in updated variants. Its dimensions—approximately 7 inches in overall length with a 3.9-inch barrel—strike a balance between concealability and shootability, making it well-suited for both duty carry and discreet personal defense. The pistol operates via a traditional Browning short-recoil, locked-breech system and utilizes a 13-round double-stack magazine. The controls include a decocking lever, slide stop, and magazine release, all conveniently placed for ease of use, with no manual safety, relying instead on four internal safeties, including a firing pin block.

The P228 is renowned for its smooth, consistent trigger pull, crisp single-action break, excellent mechanical accuracy, and robust construction. It gained significant recognition when adopted by the U.S. military in the early 1990s as the M11, where it was used by various branches, including the Air Force, Navy, and military investigators. Today, although largely succeeded by the P229 in production, the P228 remains a respected and collectible piece in the SIG Sauer lineup, valued for its performance and historic military pedigree.
