*SOLD* AMT AutoMag II .22 WMR Stainless 6" *EXCELLENT SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL*

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:

The AMT AutoMag II is a semi-automatic handgun that uses .22 WMR ammunition. It was manufactured by Arcadia Machine and Tool from 1987 to 1999 and is currently produced by High Standard. Designing a reliable autoloading .22 WMR handgun posed several engineering challenges, particularly with extraction. The slow-burning rifle powder of the .22 WMR cartridge creates a late peak pressure, which can cause the case mouth to expand and jam in the chamber when fired from a handgun. AMT solved this issue by drilling 18 holes at 90 degrees to the chamber and welding a sleeve over it. This allowed excess gas to escape from the first set of holes to the second set, relieving enough pressure to prevent the case from sticking. The handgun's stainless steel slide has a large cutout over the barrel, similar to the Beretta M9, to improve cooling and ejection of spent brass casings. The stainless steel construction eliminates concerns about rust.
