*SOLD* Detonics Combat Master .45 ACP SS 3.5" *OUTSTANDING COMPACT 1911 PISTOL*

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:

The Detonics Combat Master was the first truly small and compact 1911-pattern pistol to be produced in significant numbers. Its introduction marked a milestone in concealed carry firearms, quickly gaining popularity, especially among law enforcement, for its diminutive size, exceptional quality, and powerful .45 ACP chambering. The Combat Master received further fame when Don Johnson’s character, Sonny Crockett, was seen carrying one in a leg holster on Miami Vice, elevating the gun to "star quality" status. However, far more important than the media exposure was the innovative reliability work that went into its design. The Detonics Combat Master featured a bulged barrel end, eliminating the need for traditional barrel bushing, and it incorporated double and triple recoil springs to enhance durability. It was also the first production 1911-pattern pistol to be throated and ramped for hollowpoint ammunition, improving feeding reliability with defensive rounds. Despite its groundbreaking design, the high price and limited market eventually led to the company’s downfall. Nevertheless, were the Combat Master to be reintroduced today, its reputation for innovation and quality would likely result in a very different outcome. Those fortunate enough to own a Detonics pistol continue to treasure them as a unique piece of firearms history.
