The HK-91 traces its lineage back to the early 1950s when German and Spanish engineers collaborated on the development of the CETME Model A, which briefly served as the standard-issue rifle for the German armed forces. This collaboration led to refinements resulting in the CETME Model B and later the Model C, ultimately becoming the "Gewehr 3" (Rifle - Model 3), or G3, when it was adopted by the German military.
