*SOLD* Para Ordnance P14 .45 ACP Stainless 5" *PATTERNED AFTER COLT MODEL 1911A1*
Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Para-Ordnance P14-45 (later known as the 14.45) is a significant evolution of the classic M1911 pistol, combining the tried-and-true design of the U.S. military's iconic handgun with modern innovations to enhance its capacity and versatility. Introduced in the 1980s by Para-Ordnance, the P14-45 was the first M1911 derivative to feature a high-capacity double-stack magazine, doubling the traditional 7-round magazine capacity to 14 rounds of .45 ACP. This innovative design was initially introduced through "high capacity conversion kits" for M1911A1 pistols, which included a wider grip frame and a new trigger assembly. Following the success of these kits, Para-Ordnance began manufacturing full, high-capacity M1911-style pistols, with the P14-45 becoming their flagship model in 1990. The introduction of this high-capacity variant offered shooters a more powerful and capable option while retaining the familiar feel and operation of the M1911.
Over the years, the P14-45 and its variants, such as the P16-40 and P18-9, continued to expand the M1911 platform's utility. The P16-40, chambered in .40 S&W, increased capacity further with a 16-round magazine, while the P18-9, chambered in 9mm, offered an 18-round magazine, appealing to those looking for a more modern, high-capacity sidearm. In 1999, Para-Ordnance also introduced the LDA (Light Double Action) modification, a variant of the P14-45 featuring a double-action-only trigger system, further expanding the pistol's appeal to law enforcement and defensive shooters. With its combination of high capacity, the familiar 1911 design, and modern enhancements, the Para-Ordnance P14-45 became a trailblazer in the realm of high-capacity 1911 pistols, offering greater firepower while maintaining the classic attributes that have made the M1911 a popular and enduring firearm.
