Bryant Ridge's Analysis

The Remington Model 597 is an American semi-automatic rifle produced by Remington Arms at their Mayfield, Kentucky, and Huntsville, Alabama, facilities. The rifle is available in several variants: the .22 Long Rifle model features a removable 10-round magazine, while the .22 WMR and .17 HMR versions come with eight-round magazines. Production of the .22 LR and .22 WMR models began in 1997, followed by the .17 HMR model in 2002. Remington announced the discontinuation of the 597 in 2019. Designed to compete with other rifles like the Marlin Model 795, Mossberg 702 Plinkster, and Ruger 10/22, the Model 597 offered various configurations, including options with synthetic or laminated wood stocks. It features a standard 20-inch barrel and a distinctive bolt-guidance system with two steel guide rails, ensuring smooth operation. Additionally, the bolt locks in the open position after the last round is fired, enhancing usability.
