Item Description

Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this semi-automatic rifle today for a penny-start auction; this is the Bren MK II LMG (Light Machine Gun)!

This example will ship with its original WWII-era wooden transit chest for the Bren light machine gun. It is designed to securely store and transport the Bren. This example being serialized makes this a lot more desirable and sought after by collectors.

The Bren gun (Brno–Enfield) was a British-licensed light machine gun developed in the 1930s from the Czechoslovak ZB series and remained an important infantry LMG through World War II, the Korean War, and into the late 20th century. Recognizable by its top-mounted curved magazine, quick-change barrel, and conical flash hider, the Bren was adaptable—bipod-, tripod-, or vehicle-mounted—and many were later re-barrelled in the 1950s to 7.62×51mm NATO and redesignated in Commonwealth service as the L4. Eventually supplanted in the section and general-purpose roles by belt-fed GPMGs and smaller-caliber support weapons, the Bren continued limited service on vehicle mounts and was even produced by Indian Ordnance Factories until its final discontinuation.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Bren gun (Brno–Enfield) was a British-licensed light machine gun developed in the 1930s from the Czechoslovak ZB series and remained an important infantry LMG through World War II, the Korean War, and into the late 20th century. Eventually supplanted in the section and general-purpose roles by belt-fed GPMGs and smaller-caliber support weapons, the Bren continued limited service on vehicle mounts and was even produced by Indian Ordnance Factories until its final discontinuation.

The Bren Mk II LMG from 1943 is a historically significant, well-built light machine gun adapted here to .308 Win, featuring a 24" barrel, adjustable rear sight with winged blade front, and a smooth walnut buttstock and pistol grip that reflect its era of manufacture. Renowned for its reliability, quick-change barrel design, and distinctive top-mounted feeding arrangement (though this example is presented with conventional mounting visuals), the Bren served as a stalwart infantry support weapon in WWII and beyond; examples built during the wartime period are prized by collectors for their rugged construction, period-correct finish, and battlefield provenance. This particular specimen’s 1943 date and solid blue finish, paired with service-style sights and traditional wood furniture, make it a desirable piece for enthusiasts interested in mid-20th-century military small arms that combine historical importance with practical robustness.
