The Century International Arms M70AB2 is a semi-automatic 7.62×39mm rifle assembled in the United States from surplus Yugoslav (Zastava) M70 parts kits together with new U.S.-made components. It reproduces the Yugoslav M70AB/AB2 underfolder — the stamped-receiver, under-folding-stock member of the M70 family (itself derived from the Soviet AKM/AK-47) — and retains the military model’s look and handling while being finished as a U.S.-legal semi-automatic. These builds most often use barrels of approximately 16.25–16.3 inches, along with a reinforced stamped receiver and bulged RPK-style front trunnion (commonly cited around 1.5mm thick). The M70AB2 accepts standard AK-pattern style magazines (typically 30 rounds). When original Yugoslav kits were used, they often retained the M70’s distinctive under-folding stock (and other characteristic Yugoslav features). Some factory M70AB/AB2 rifles were fitted with the folding ladder-type grenade sight over the gas block (which also functions as a gas cut-off when raised); Century-assembled examples will only have that ladder sight if the original Yugoslav gas block/sight was retained in the parts kit.
