The Colt 1860 Army Second Generation “F-Series” (Model F-1203) is a rare model with a fluted cylinder, produced from July 1980 to October 1981, with serial numbers found in the 207330 to 211250 range, and a total production of 2,670.

The Colt Second Generation black-powder reproduction of the legendary 1860 Army remained in production from November 1978 through 1982, becoming one of the most celebrated modern renditions of this classic design. True to its revered heritage, the standard 1860-style model featured a round barrel and a rebated cylinder produced continuously throughout that period. In 1982, Colt introduced an electroless nickel-finished version that added both a visual flair and corrosion resistance. Enthusiasts were also offered a variant featuring a fluted cylinder (Model F-1203), with serial numbers found in the 207330 to 211250 range, of which 2,670 were produced from July 1980 to October 1981. A rare stainless steel model was also offered for a few months, from January to April 1982. These reproductions captured the elegant lines and balanced proportions of the original 1860 Army while offering quality black-powder craftsmanship that appealed to collectors and shooters alike, helping ensure the 1860 Army’s legacy endured well into the late 20th century.
