Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Second Generation black-powder reproduction of the iconic 1860 Army remained in production until 1982, with several notable variations. The classic 1860-style model with a rebated cylinder was manufactured from November 1978 through November 1982. In 1982, Colt also offered a version with an electroless nickel finish. A fluted cylinder variant was produced between July 1980 and October 1981, while a rare stainless steel version was available from January to April 1982. Following the 1860 Army, Colt expanded its black-powder line with the introduction of the 1862 Pocket Navy in December 1979 and the 1862 Pocket Police in January 1980. These compact percussion revolvers, originally released just before the 1873 Peacemaker, were scaled-down versions of the 1851 Navy and 1860 Army models. The 1862 Pocket Police stood out with its semi-fluted, rebated cylinder, a round barrel modeled after the 1860 Army, and a creeping-style loading lever. The Pocket Navy, on the other hand, featured a rebated round cylinder engraved with the signature stagecoach holdup scene, along with an octagonal barrel and hinged loading lever.

Production of the 2nd Generation Pocket Navy continued until November 1981, while the Pocket Police remained in production until September 1981. Interestingly, serial numbering conventions distinguished the two: Pocket Navy models typically carry serial numbers in the even thousands, whereas Pocket Police models are usually found in the odd thousands.
