This example remains New Old Stock, showing no evidence of consumer use or handling whatsoever.
According to the accompanying factory Colt letter, this extraordinary revolver was shipped from the famed Colt Custom Shop (Order #083) to Fin Feather Sport Shop Inc., doing business as Omaha Midwest Wholesale Distributors, at in Omaha, Nebraska, on February 24, 1978. Chambered in .45 Colt and fitted with a 7½-inch barrel, this revolver exudes classic Colt craftsmanship with its striking blue and case-hardened finish, perfectly complemented by traditional black Colt/Eagle hard composition grips. Adding to its prestige, the engraving was masterfully executed by the renowned A.A. White Engravers of East Sandwich, Massachusetts—a name synonymous with excellence in fine firearms embellishment.
Further factory remarks highlight the exquisite artistry that sets this revolver apart. This example will ship with the original deluxe walnut presentation case, French fitted with red velvet lining. A brass plaque is inserted into the top of the case with the following inscription: WESTERN STATES ANIMAL, SPECIAL EDITION, COLORADO, 2 OF 4.
