The Colt Single Action Frontier Scout, identifiable by its “K” suffix serial number, was produced from 1960 to 1970 as a lightweight rimfire companion to Colt’s legendary Single Action Army. Approximately 44,000 examples were manufactured during its decade-long production run, all chambered in .22 Long Rifle and configured as six-shot, single-action revolvers. Designed to capture the look and handling of a traditional frontier revolver in an affordable and easy-shooting package, the Frontier Scout featured fixed sights and was offered with either a standard 4¾-inch barrel or the extended 9½-inch “Buntline” configuration.

While not built to the same heavy-duty standards as Colt’s centerfire revolvers, the Single Action Frontier Scout remains popular today for its distinctive appearance, Colt lineage, and its role in introducing a new generation of shooters to the single-action revolver tradition.
