The Colt Trooper Mark III is a robust double-action revolver produced by Colt's Manufacturing Company from 1969 through the early 1980s, developed as a durable and modernized successor to earlier Colt service revolvers. Built on the newly designed Mark III action, the Trooper Mark III represented a significant departure from Colt’s traditional hand-fitted lockwork used in earlier models like the Colt Trooper and the Colt Python. The new mechanism incorporated a transfer-bar safety system and a coil mainspring rather than the older leaf-spring design, making the revolver stronger, safer to carry with all chambers loaded, and easier to manufacture with modern production techniques.
