The CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow is a highly respected full-size, steel-framed 9mm semi-automatic pistol developed by the Czech firearms manufacturer Ceská Zbrojovka as a competition-oriented evolution of the legendary CZ 75 platform. Introduced in 2006, the SP-01 Shadow was designed with direct input from elite competition shooters, including members of the CZ shooting team such as Angus Hobdell and Adam Tyc, to refine the already excellent ergonomics and accuracy of the original design for high-level practical shooting sports. Built on a full-size all-steel frame with an integral accessory rail and extended dust cover, the pistol weighs roughly 1.17 kg (about 2.6 pounds) unloaded, a deliberate choice that helps reduce muzzle rise and improve recoil control during rapid fire. Chambered in 9×19mm and typically feeding from high-capacity magazines holding around 17–18 rounds, the SP-01 Shadow features the classic CZ short-recoil, locked-breech system and the distinctive slide-inside-frame rail design that contributes to its tight lockup and exceptional mechanical accuracy.
