The CZ Shadow 2 is a high-performance competition handgun developed by Ceská zbrojovka Uherský Brod as an advanced evolution of the widely respected CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow platform. Designed primarily for practical shooting sports such as IPSC and USPSA competition, the Shadow 2 was engineered to maximize accuracy, recoil control, and rapid target acquisition while maintaining the proven mechanical reliability of the CZ-75 design. Chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum, the pistol operates on the traditional short-recoil, locked-breech system and retains the distinctive internal slide-rail arrangement, in which the slide rides inside the frame rails, a feature known for producing an exceptionally tight slide-to-frame fit and contributing to excellent mechanical accuracy. The Shadow 2 features an all-steel frame and slide, which increases overall weight compared to earlier CZ models and helps reduce muzzle rise during rapid fire, making it easier for competitive shooters to maintain fast and controlled shot strings. It typically includes a 4.9-inch cold-hammer-forged barrel, extended beavertail, deeply cut slide serrations, and an aggressively textured grip frame designed to provide a secure hold even during high-speed competition stages. 
 
The pistol utilizes a traditional double-action/single-action trigger system that is carefully tuned for a smooth double-action pull and a light, crisp single-action break, characteristics highly valued by competitive shooters. Adjustable target sights, often paired with a fiber-optic front sight, allow for precise aiming and quick sight acquisition under a variety of lighting conditions. The pistol feeds from double-stack magazines typically holding 17 to 19 rounds of 9mm ammunition, giving competitors ample capacity for demanding match stages.
