Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Dan Wesson Model 15-2 “Pistol Pac” represents one of the most innovative and versatile revolver systems ever offered to shooters. Introduced in the late 1970s and produced into the 1980s, the 15-2 series was a .357 Magnum double-action revolver that stood out due to its unique interchangeable barrel system. The “Pistol Pac” variant came packaged in a fitted hard case with a complete assortment of barrel lengths—typically 2.5", 4", 6", and 8"—each with its corresponding shroud and front sight. The barrel change system used a proprietary barrel nut and included a barrel wrench and feeler gauge, allowing the user to easily and precisely change barrels and set the proper cylinder gap for optimal performance. The frame itself was built from high-quality carbon steel with a robust and square-butt design, and the solid barrel ribs and heavy shrouds gave it a modern, tactical look that appealed to both competitive shooters and collectors. What made the 15-2 “Pistol Pac” so appealing was not only its modularity but also its exceptional accuracy and craftsmanship. Dan Wesson revolvers were known for their tight lock-up, crisp trigger pulls, and consistent cylinder timing. The interchangeable barrel lengths allowed a shooter to quickly switch from a compact carry setup to a full-length target configuration—all using the same revolver frame. Grips were also easily swapped, thanks to the frame’s barrel nut design, which eliminated the conventional grip screw running through the bottom. The Pac set also typically included multiple grips, belt buckles, cleaning tools, and manuals, all neatly organized in a custom case. Today, original Dan Wesson 15-2 Pistol Pacs are highly sought after by collectors due to their limited availability, rugged design, and the unmatched versatility they offer within the revolver platform.
