The FNH/FN America FNS-40 is FN’s polymer-frame, striker-fired pistol in .40 S&W that launched as part of the FNS family to give law-enforcement and civilian shooters a modern, ergonomically refined alternative to older duty pistols. Introduced in the 2010s, the FNS line was FN’s answer to the wave of polymer striker pistols: it combined FN’s long history of service-pistol design with contemporary features and a focus on ambidextrous controls and shooter ergonomics.
