The GSG-922 is German Sport Guns’ rimfire take on the classic M1911 silhouette — a single-action, .22 Long Rifle semi-automatic that reproduces 1911 controls (thumb safety, extended beavertail, skeletonized trigger, and hammer) in a lightweight, economy-minded package intended for training, plinking, and cheap practice. Built around a roughly 3.4–3.5? non-threaded barrel and a single-stack 10-round magazine, the pistol is constructed mainly from Zamak-5 zinc alloy for the frame with a reciprocating steel slide (a choice that keeps cost and weight down but leaves the alloy frame less resistant to heavy-use abuse than steel or modern polymers).
