The Glock 22 Gen5 is Glock’s full-size duty pistol in .40 S&W updated with the company’s Gen-5 refinements — a 4.49" Glock Marksman barrel (GMB), an nDLC-finished slide and barrel, and a host of ergonomics and handling updates while keeping Glock’s simple, striker-fired operating system. It’s built as a service-oriented .40 platform with magazine capacities and dimensions appropriate to full-size duty use. What marks the Gen-5 refresh are several tangible user-facing changes: removal of the old finger grooves for a more universal grip, an ambidextrous slide-stop lever for left- or right-handed shooters, a flared magazine well to speed reloads, and Glock’s Marksman Barrel designed to improve accuracy. The Gen-5 pistols also use Glock’s tougher nDLC surface treatment on slide and barrel, and include other fit-and-feel refinements carried across the Gen-5 family. Those updates were intended to improve ergonomics, durability, and out-of-the-box accuracy compared with earlier generations.
