Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Hämmerli Model 100 Free Pistol is a classic Swiss precision target pistol developed during the post–World War II era, designed specifically for international free pistol competition at 50 meters. Introduced in the late 1940s and produced into the 1950s, the Model 100 reflected Hämmerli’s long-standing commitment to extreme accuracy, refined trigger systems, and meticulous machining. Built around a single-shot, bolt-operated action, it featured a long sight radius, fully adjustable target sights, and an exceptionally light, crisp trigger—key attributes demanded by elite competitive shooters. The pistol was typically fitted with anatomically shaped walnut grips, often custom-fitted to the shooter, underscoring its purpose as a serious match firearm rather than a general sporting arm.

Historically, the Hämmerli 100 helped solidify the company’s reputation as one of the premier manufacturers of Olympic-grade target pistols. It was widely used in international competition and training, contributing to Switzerland’s dominance in precision shooting disciplines during the mid-20th century. While later models such as the Hämmerli 102 and 103 would refine the platform further, the Model 100 remains significant as an early benchmark in modern free pistol design. Today, it is highly regarded by collectors and traditional target shooters for its craftsmanship, competitive pedigree, and role in the evolution of world-class precision handguns.
