Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Hammerli / InterContinental Arms “Dakota” single-action is a European-made Colt–style Single Action Army (SAA)–pattern revolver produced for the American market and imported by InterContinental Arms (also seen under related importers). Mechanically and visually, it follows the classic SAA blueprint—a single-action, fixed-cylinder head/locking-system, loading gate on the right, and a traditional hammer-and-ejector-rod arrangement—but with a distinct Swiss/Italian manufacturing pedigree and higher-than-average fit-and-finish compared with many other foreign SAA replicas of the era. These revolvers were offered in magnum-capable calibers such as .357 Magnum and .45 Long Colt, with barrel lengths commonly seen in import listings from about 4¾" up to 7½", and finishes ranging from bright blued to case-colored frames and brass or brass-look backstraps on some export variants. Because many Dakota examples were factory-fitted with tidy sights and well-polished internals, shooters who handled them often remarked that they compared favorably to contemporary Colt reproductions in lockup tightness and machining quality. In use, the Dakota appealed to buyers who wanted the look, handling, and chambering flexibility of a classic western-style single-action but preferred the generally finer machining and finishwork associated with Hammerli (and, in some runs, Armi Jager) production. These guns are commonly encountered in collector and auction records as attractive, well-made import single-actions that frequently turn up in very good, often near-new condition because many were sold into the civilian market rather than seeing hard service. Practically, they function as straightforward single-action revolvers for range, cowboy-action shooting, or display—solid lockup, crisp single-action trigger pulls when tuned, and a heavy, dependable feel when chambered in .357 or .45—so they occupy a niche between mass-market imports and higher-priced modern reproductions. Because of limited import runs and uneven documentation (different European manufacturers and importers used the Dakota name at various times), prospective buyers should inspect serial/imprint details and provenance when evaluating an example for originality or collector value.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
