The Hi-Point C9 is a budget-focused, polymer-framed 9×19mm compact pistol built around a heavy-slide blowback design (˜3.5" barrel, ~6.75" overall, standard 8-round mags) that prioritizes low cost, simplicity, and ease of maintenance. Its chunky, massy slide helps tame recoil for controllable close-range shooting, and the platform is known for reliable function with common defensive and plinking loads. Tradeoffs include a basic trigger feel, utilitarian fit-and-finish, and a larger overall profile compared with many modern compact 9mms—shortcomings most buyers accept because of the pistol’s very low price and Hi-Point’s long warranty.
