The High Standard Manufacturing Company Sentinel R-100 is a classic American double-action revolver chambered in .22 Long Rifle, designed as an affordable yet well-made rimfire handgun suitable for target shooting, small game hunting, and general recreational use. Produced primarily during the late 1950s through the 1970s, the Sentinel series—including the R-100—was part of High Standard’s effort to offer a lightweight, reliable revolver that combined modern styling with practical performance, and it featured an aluminum alloy frame paired with a steel barrel and cylinder to reduce weight while maintaining durability. The R-100 typically uses a nine-shot cylinder, giving it greater capacity than most traditional six-shot revolvers, and operates in both double-action and single-action modes, allowing the shooter to either cock the hammer manually for a lighter, more precise trigger pull or fire rapidly with a longer double-action stroke. Barrel lengths commonly ranged from 3 to 6 inches, with longer barrels providing improved sight radius and accuracy, while the fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight on many examples allowed for precise zeroing.
