Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
High Standard target pistols were manufactured in a variety of models in .22 Short and .22 Long Rifle chamberings for use in competition. One selling point was the similarity in grip angle and manual safety location to the M1911A1 series, a pistol common in service pistol competition. Manufactured from 1926 until 2018, High Standards are generally regarded as a classic .22 target pistol and were common in national-level NRA Bullseye match shooting. Popular models include the High Standard Victor, Supermatic and Supermatic Trophy, and Olympic. Today, High Standards are popular among gun collectors. This particular Sport-King is a First Model (Lever Name Series) was manufactured by Hi-Standard between 1950 and 1954 while chambered in the famous .22 Long Rifle cartridge. This High Standard Sport King is an amazing piece of history showcasing its durability and high-quality design for that time period. The Lever Name Series came equipped with the ability to interchange between two lightweight different barrel lengths, such as 4 1/2" and 6 3/4" barrels. Overall, this is a perfect example of a classic rimfire pistol at its finest.
