Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Interarms Virginian Dragoon, manufactured in Virginia from 1973 to 1984 (with remaining inventory shipping through 1985–86), was Interarms’s ambitious effort to bring a rugged, American-made single-action revolver to market. Inspired by the earlier Swiss-made Hammerli Virginian, the Dragoon was designed as a heavy-duty, Colt-style revolver intended for both sport shooters and Western enthusiasts. It was chambered in a range of popular calibers—.357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, .44 Magnum, and .45 Colt—and offered in several barrel lengths, some extending up to an imposing 12 inches. Finishes included blue, stainless steel, or color-case-hardened frames and attractive walnut grips. Unlike the earlier Virginian models, the Dragoon featured fixed sights and retained the distinctive “Swiss Safety” latch system, offering a unique blend of Old West styling with European-influenced engineering.

Although initial production suffered from quality control issues, these were largely resolved through careful hand-fitting by gunsmith Rod Sward. Despite its strengths, the Dragoon struggled to gain traction in a crowded revolver market and was discontinued by the end of 1984. Today, it is regarded as a cult classic among collectors and revolver aficionados, admired for its robust construction, mechanical quirks, and frontier-era appeal.
