Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The J.C. Higgins Model 25, catalog number 583.2500, was a semi-automatic .22 caliber rifle marketed and sold by Sears, Roebuck & Co. between 1959 and 1966. Manufactured by High Standard, this rifle featured a 22 1/4-inch barrel, a tubular magazine, and a charging handle located on the right side, reflecting the thoughtful design standards of the era. Chambered for .22 Long Rifle cartridges only, it offered notable versatility, making it well-suited for both small game hunting and recreational shooting. The rifle came equipped with iron sights and included a receiver grooved for optional scope mounts, providing shooters with the flexibility to customize their setup. The Model 25 was first introduced in mid-1959, with the subsequent 583.2501 variant arriving in late 1962, which offered minor updates that further enhanced its functionality and appeal.
