The Marlin Model 39 was manufactured between 1922 and 1938, with an estimated production run of approximately 40,000 to 50,000 units. Early examples, particularly those without a serial number prefix or those marked with an “S” prefix, are especially prized for their exceptional craftsmanship and high-quality finish.

This Marlin Model 39 is a rare and highly desirable example, distinguished by its factory-threaded barrel designed to accommodate a suppressor and fitted with a threaded cap—an uncommon and sought-after factory feature.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Marlin Model 39, manufactured between 1922 and 1938, represents a significant chapter in American firearms history as one of the earliest and most enduring lever-action rimfire rifles. Evolving from the earlier Model 1891 and Model 1897, the Model 39 was built with the precision and quality that defined Marlin's legacy during the golden age of American gunmaking. This example, chambered in .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle, reflects the rifle’s original versatility, capable of handling a variety of rimfire loads for everything from target shooting to small game hunting. Its 24-inch octagonal barrel, threaded at the muzzle and finished in deep blue, pairs elegantly with a color case-hardened frame, offering both durability and the kind of visual appeal that makes it a standout among early 20th-century rifles.

This particular Model 39 also features a traditional bead blade front sight and a V-notch elevator rear sight, a tried-and-true combination that provides simple, accurate sight alignment. The rifle’s aesthetics are further elevated by its smooth, high-grade 2X-3X walnut S-shaped pistol grip stock and matching walnut forearm, which not only enhance handling but also reflect the era’s attention to fine wood selection and craftsmanship. The lever-action mechanism, true to Marlin’s reputation, operates smoothly and reliably, delivering consistent performance with every shot. With standard factory markings and classic design features intact, this rifle serves as both a functional shooter and a collector’s piece—one that embodies nearly a century of American shooting heritage.
