The Moore’s Patent “Teat-Fire” revolver is an intriguing and mechanically distinctive example of mid-19th century experimentation in cartridge design and breechloading handguns — a pocket-sized, single-action revolver that stood out because it used a purpose-built rimless cartridge with a small protruding primer nipple or “teat” at the base, rather than the rimmed metallic cartridges that would soon dominate the market.
