The Remington Model 522 Viper is a late-20th-century semi-automatic .22 LR designed as Remington’s polymer-built successor to the Nylon 66 line and as a bridge to later models like the Model 597. Introduced in 1993 and produced only for a short run through the mid-1990s, the Viper was notable for its extensive use of molded polymer (Rynite-type) components with steel limited to the barrel, bolt, and a few internal parts, which kept weight low and manufacturing costs down.
