Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Remington Model 552 Speedmaster is a blowback-operated, semi-automatic .22 rimfire rifle introduced in 1957 and designed primarily by L.R. Crittendon. It is chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle cartridges, all of which can be fired interchangeably from its tubular magazine, with capacities of approximately 20, 17, and 15 rounds, respectively. The rifle features a low-profile left-side bolt handle, open adjustable sights, a 3/8-inch dovetail for scope mounting, and a trigger-guard-mounted safety. Standard production ran from 1957 to 1988, after which the BDL Deluxe model continued, offering high-gloss walnut stocks with checkering and a Monte Carlo comb. A special 150th Anniversary edition was released in 1966 with commemorative receiver markings. Celebrated for its reliability, smooth handling, and versatility, the Model 552 Speedmaster remains one of the few tube-fed .22 autoloaders capable of firing all three .22 cartridge types without modification, making it highly regarded by collectors and shooters alike.
