Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Remington Model 700 LH is a left-hand variant of the classic bolt-action Model 700, explicitly tailored for left-handed shooters. It mirrors the renowned right-handed version in every mechanical way—such as the three rings-of-steel receiver design and robust bolt system—except that the bolt handle, ejection port, and safety are reversed to accommodate left-side operation. This design enables left-handed shooters to cycle the action with their strong hand while keeping their finger on or near the trigger, improving both efficiency and ergonomics. First introduced around 1973 with the BDL model, the left-handed 700 LH expanded over time into various configurations across the Model 700 range, including ADL, SPS, and Custom Shop editions. These left-hand variants were offered in different calibers and stock options—ranging from traditional walnut to sporty synthetic setups—allowing select left-handed hunters and competitive shooters to access the same level of precision and reliability as their right-handed counterparts. However, left-handed editions were always produced in lower volumes, making them somewhat rarer and more sought after among left-handed enthusiasts seeking factory-fit rifles. Despite being discontinued in modern production lines, the Remington 700 LH continues to hold strong appeal among collectors and shooters who prefer ergonomically aligned designs. Its legacy is seen in how it caters to inclusivity in shooting ergonomics and upholds the same accuracy and field-proven performance that have made the Model 700 an enduring favorite for decades.
