The Remington Elliott’s Single-Shot “Mississippi” Derringer is a compact post–Civil War pocket pistol produced by E. Remington & Sons between approximately 1867 and 1888, with an estimated 10,000 examples manufactured. Chambered in .41 Rimfire and associated with riverboat gamblers of the American South, this discreet single-shot design is best known for its ingenious hammer-breechblock mechanism and reputation as a reliable last-ditch defensive arm of the late 19th century.
