Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Röhm Gesellschaft (R.G. Industries) RG-14 .22 LR pocket pistol is a quintessential small, economy-class European pocket autoloader — compact, unpretentious and built to deliver simple, close-range utility rather than match-grade performance.  Physically it presents a short, stubby barrel (the 3-inch variant gives a tolerable sight radius for a pocket gun), a slim, narrow grip and a small alloy/zamak frame with a reciprocating steel slide; the light weight and neat silhouette make it extremely concealable and easy to tuck into a pocket or small holster.  Functionally the RG-14 is a straightforward blowback design that uses very few parts, a removable single-stack magazine and minimal, low-profile sights, so the manual of arms is quick to learn and field stripping for cleaning is uncomplicated — attributes that appealed to buyers seeking a cheap, reliable last-ditch carry piece.  On the range the little RG rewards realistic expectations: it’s pleasant with standard, fresh.22 LR loads (very mild recoil, short sight radius), but like many compact rimfire autoloaders it can be picky about very low-velocity ammunition and benefits from routine cleaning of the chamber and extractor to preserve reliable ejection.  Fit and finish are utilitarian — nominal bluing or chrome/nickel plating over a cast frame is common, and wear at slide rails, the muzzle crown and controls is something to watch for on used examples — while safety features vary by production run (some examples include a manual thumb safety or slide-mounted catch, others are more spartan), so buyers should inspect a specific gun’s safeties and operation before purchase.  Collectors view RG pistols as affordable, shootable relics of mid-century pocket-pistol production: they’re not high-end pieces, but a well-kept RG-14 with a solid bore, working magazine and clean timing makes a charming, eminently usable little carry gun or a pocket-pistol curiosity for a vintage collection.
