Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The GP (General Purpose) WASR-10 is a 7.62x39mm caliber semi-automatic rifle that gained prominence after the expiration of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban. Initially, factory-original WASR-10 rifles were designed to accept only single-stack, low-capacity magazines, typically limited to 10 rounds. Following importation, Century Arms modified these rifles to accommodate double-stack, standard-capacity magazines, allowing for greater ammunition capacity. Both pistol grip and thumbhole stocks were commonly fitted to the WASR rifles, catering to a range of shooter preferences. The GP WASR-10/63 shares a newly manufactured single-stack receiver and chrome-lined barrel with the GP WASR-10, resulting in similar cosmetic features. However, while the GP WASR-10 was constructed with new parts, the GP WASR-10/63 was made using parts sourced from former Romanian military rifles, with the exception of the barrel. The original year of manufacture can be found engraved on the left side of the trunnion, which is visible where it protrudes through the receiver near the front.

The dates on these parts typically range from the early 1960s to the 1980s, and many small metal components are marked with the last few digits of the original serial number. As with other WASR models imported to the United States, Century Arms modified these rifles to accept standard 30-round magazines. Additionally, to comply with U.S. regulations, the pistol grip, trigger group, slant muzzle brake, and gas piston were replaced with U.S.-made substitutes.
