The Ruger Security-9 is a compact-to-full-size crossover 9mm handgun introduced in 2017 by Sturm, Ruger & Co., designed to provide affordable reliability with features suited for personal defense and everyday carry. Built around a glass-filled nylon frame with an internal hardened aluminum chassis for rigidity, the Security-9 utilizes a hammer-fired system that is partially pre-cocked by the cycling slide, giving it a trigger feel similar to many striker-fired pistols while retaining an internal hammer mechanism. Chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum, the standard model typically feeds from a 15-round double-stack magazine, offering service-level capacity in a relatively slim and lightweight profile. The pistol operates on a short-recoil, locked-breech system and incorporates integrated safety features, including a trigger safety blade and an internal firing pin block; certain variants also include a manual thumb safety. A 4-inch alloy steel barrel and through-hardened slide contribute to durability, while the textured grip frame and ergonomic contouring enhance control during rapid fire. Fixed three-dot sights come standard, and a Picatinny-style accessory rail molded into the dust cover allows attachment of lights or lasers. Ruger engineered the Security-9 with ease of maintenance in mind, incorporating a straightforward takedown system that avoids the need to pull the trigger during disassembly. Any orders placed with magazines that are not compliant with your state, county, or city regulations will not ship with your order.
