Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Ruger Single-Six in .22 Long Rifle with a 4-inch blued barrel is a wonderfully balanced, old-school single-action revolver that captures the look and manual of arms of classic cowboy wheelguns while remaining perfectly at home as an everyday plinker, trainer, or small-game tool. Typically a six-shot, fluted-cylinder revolver with a loading gate and ejector rod beneath the barrel, the Single-Six’s rigid barrel-to-frame fit and relatively long 4.625" tube give a pleasing sight radius and steady inherent accuracy for a revolver of this class; paired with a crisp single-action trigger and the natural pointability of its grip shape, many shooters find they can get very good groups with quality .22 LR ammunition. Most modern Single-Sixes are built on Ruger’s New-Model architecture (transfer-bar safety and modern metallurgy), which allows owners to carry all chambers loaded safely and gives dependable, long-term durability. At the same time, earlier vintage examples may lack the transfer bar and are therefore treated differently for carry and safety. The platform is also often offered with convertible cylinder options or factory-upgrade kits (historically allowing use of .22 WMR/.22 Mag in addition to .22 LR), which increases versatility for hunters and range users who want a little more punch without changing guns. Finish and trim range from utilitarian blued steel with walnut checkered stocks to nickel or more decorative examples, but the core mechanical simplicity makes the Single-Six easy to maintain—regular attention to timing, cylinder lockup, cylinder gap, bore crown, and extractor function will keep an example shooting true for decades. In short, the Ruger Single-Six 4" blued is a charming, shootable single-action that blends period styling, practical accuracy and rock-solid Ruger reliability—equally suited to economical range sessions, introducing new shooters to single-action technique, or serving as a handsome, functional piece in a collection.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
