The receiver is richly engraved throughout, with the left side depicting a dog in pursuit of a hare and the right side illustrating a doe and fawn set against a landscape with a tree and a scarecrow. The underside of the trigger guard is adorned with a detailed engraving of a bugling elk, while flowing scrollwork unifies and frames all scenes across the receiver.
