Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this historically collectible semi-automatic pistol for a penny-start auction; this is the Sig Arms Swiss Army P49!

The SIG P210, particularly the Swiss military version known as the P49, is celebrated as one of the most historically significant and high-quality pistols ever created. Often regarded as the finest military pistol produced, its reputation for exceptional accuracy and craftsmanship makes it a highly sought-after collectible. Swiss military P49s can be easily identified by the "A" serial number prefix, which is stamped on the barrel, slide, and frame, along with a lanyard loop on the left grip. Serial production commenced with A100001 in 1949 and concluded with A213110 in the early 1970s, resulting in a total of just over 113,000 units. This limited production, combined with the pistol's remarkable performance, has solidified the P210’s status as a prized piece in the world of firearms collecting.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The SIG P210, known as the Pistole 49 in Swiss Army nomenclature and originally designated the SP47/8 for civilian markets before 1957, is a notable locked breech, self-loading, semi-automatic pistol produced by SIG in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland, from 1948 until 2006. This firearm was developed to replace the outdated P06/29 Lugers in the Swiss military, showcasing SIG’s commitment to innovation and quality in firearm design. The P49, commercially referred to as the P210-2 emerged from SIG's efforts to secure military contracts and was subsequently marketed to discerning civilian shooters, the West German Border Police, and the Armed Forces of Denmark. The Swiss military P49 models are distinguished by an "A" prefix in their serial numbers, which are stamped on the barrel, slide, and frame, as well as by a lanyard loop on the left grip. Production of these military-grade pistols began with serial number A100001 in 1949 and concluded with A213110 in the early 1970s, resulting in a total of just over 113,000 units manufactured. The P210 is renowned for its precision engineering, exceptional accuracy, and robust construction, qualities that have solidified its reputation among firearms enthusiasts and professionals alike. Its design reflects a careful balance of form and function, embodying the high standards of Swiss craftsmanship. The P210 remains a symbol of reliability and performance, making it a significant piece of firearm history.
