The SIG Sauer P320 M17 Commemorative is a special limited-production variant of the U.S. Army’s M17 service handgun, created by SIG Sauer to celebrate the adoption of the P320 platform as the U.S. military’s Modular Handgun System. Introduced in 2018, this striker-fired, full-size semi-automatic pistol is chambered in 9×19mm and was designed to closely replicate the exact configuration, coatings, and markings of the military contract guns, down to details such as the CAGE code engravings and corrosion-resistant internal finishes used on issued service pistols. Only 5,000 units were produced, each serialized from M17-0001 through M17-5000 and packaged in the same plain cardboard shipping box used for Army deliveries, emphasizing its authenticity and collectible nature. Mechanically, the M17 Commemorative uses the modular P320 fire-control system with a polymer carry-length grip module and a stainless-steel slide finished in coyote-tan PVD, paired with similarly colored controls such as the manual safety and takedown lever—features that distinguish it from standard civilian P320-M17 models with black controls. It has a 4.7-inch barrel, an overall length of about 8 inches, and a loaded weight of roughly 29.6 ounces, balancing service-pistol durability with manageable carry weight. The pistol ships with two extended 21-round magazines and one 17-round magazine, and it includes a SIGLITE tritium front sight paired with a removable rear night-sight plate, as well as a military-spec optic cut consistent with the original contract requirements.
