Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The SITES S.P.A. Spectre HC is the semi-automatic handgun variant of the Italian-designed Spectre M4 submachine gun, manufactured by Società Italiana Tecnologie Speciali (SITES) in Turin in the mid-1980s. The original Spectre M4 employed a closed-bolt blowback design with a dual-spring striker/hammer mechanism and was fed by distinctive four-column “casket” magazines. For the U.S. civilian market, the Spectre HC omitted the folding stock and forward vertical grip of the SMG version, featured a barrel approximately 5.12 inches in length, and was imported in limited numbers, notably by F.I.E. Corp. Contemporary sources and collector records estimate that roughly 1,000 9x19mm Spectre HC pistols were imported into the United States, with additional small numbers in .40 S&W and .45 ACP; however, no official SITES or Greco Sport production or import records have been published to confirm these totals, so the figures should be regarded as approximations.

While the quad-stack magazine system allowed high capacities in the SMG form (30- and 50-round magazines), civilian versions were often restricted by law. Production at SITES S.P.A. ceased in Italy in 1997, with limited continuation by Greco Sport S.A. in Switzerland until 2001. Today, the Spectre HC remains a rare collectible, valued for its unusual design and limited availability.
