The Smith & Wesson Model 1026 is a relatively scarce member of the company’s third-generation semi-automatic pistol lineup, chambered in the powerful 10mm Auto cartridge. Featuring a 5-inch barrel and all-stainless steel construction, the 1026 was designed to maximize the ballistic performance of the 10mm round while providing durability and recoil control through its substantial weight. Produced in a limited run from 1990 to 1991, it reflects a period when Smith & Wesson was refining its large-frame pistols for both law enforcement and specialized applications. Compared to the more commonly encountered Model 1076, the 1026’s longer barrel offers increased velocity and a longer sight radius, enhancing its overall accuracy potential.
