This is a very rare Smith & Wesson Georgia State Police commemorative over-run firearm that doesn't have any Georgia State Patrol commemorative markings. It's estimated that only 40 of these guns were produced without any commemorative markings. However, it comes equipped with a factory lanyard loop and smooth duty-style rosewood grips, similar to the other commemorative version.
With approximately only 40 produced without the Commemorative markings, this particular example is a dream come true and an Excellent opportunity for a Smith & Wesson collector to get a chance to own a piece of Smith & Wesson history!

The Smith and Wesson 26-1 Georgia State Patrol Commemorative is a special production made for the Georgia State Highway Patrol. It features a lanyard ring, a 5" tapered barrel with rib, and is chambered in .45 Colt with a nominal cylinder length of 1.67". It comes with a 1/8" Baughman front sight and an adjustable Micrometer click rear sight, with a three-letter serial prefix of BBY. The 26-1 Georgia State Patrol models are usually marked "1937 Georgia State Patrol 1987" and doesn't have any caliber markings. Approximately 40 units were available without the commemorative markings outside the contract. The manufacturer produced 800 units, with 40 being contract overrun examples.
