Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this stellar semi-automatic pistol for a penny-start auction….this is the Smith & Wesson / Lew Horton 3566 Limited Performance Center Compact!!

According to research compiled from Smith-Wessonforum.com, the Smith & Wesson 3566 Limited Performance Center Compact was produced in a limited run of approximately 386 units. This exceptionally low production number, combined with its specialized design and performance-focused engineering, makes the 3566 Compact a particularly rare and highly sought-after model among collectors and enthusiasts. Designed and built by the Smith & Wesson Performance Center and distributed exclusively by Lew Horton in 1993, the 3566 Compact represents a unique chapter in the brand's history. Its rarity is further underscored by its custom features, including a match-grade barrel with titanium bushing, oversized frame rails, and a distinctive black and stainless two-tone finish—all developed for the now-defunct .356 TSW cartridge. This model stands as a testament to Smith & Wesson's commitment to innovation and craftsmanship during a competitive era in handgun development.

According to the owner, this particular example has an exceptionally low round count, indicating minimal use. Originally delivered with two magazines—one 12-round and one 15-round—this pistol also includes additional OEM Performance Center magazines, enhancing both its functionality and collectability.

Don't forget to bid on the full size sister to this example, the Smith & Wesson Performance Center "Limited" .356 TSW to keep together for future generations of collectors! Simply type item number 1110500458 into the search bar, OR you can click “Seller's Other Items.”

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson / Lew Horton 3566 Limited Performance Center Compact is a rare and innovative semi-automatic pistol developed in the early 1990s for competitive shooting and high-performance concealed carry. Chambered in the unique .356 TSW (Team Smith & Wesson), a proprietary 9x21.5mm cartridge co-developed by Smith & Wesson and Federal Cartridge, this compact pistol delivers increased velocity and flatter trajectory than traditional 9mm, making it ideal for IPSC and other action shooting disciplines. Built on a stainless steel third-generation S&W frame, the 3566 Compact features a 3.5-inch match-grade barrel with a precision titanium barrel bushing for improved lock-up and accuracy. Its eye-catching matte black and hand-polished stainless finish exemplifies the refined craftsmanship of the Smith & Wesson Performance Center.

This limited-production pistol was hand-assembled with oversized frame rails for added strength and tighter tolerances. The compact model uses a 12-round magazine and was distributed exclusively by Lew Horton in 1993, who specialized in offering small-run, custom-spec firearms to serious shooters and collectors. The pistol is equipped with a dovetailed white dot front sight and a Novak Lo-Mount rear sight, providing a sleek, low-profile aiming system well-suited for both competition and defensive use. Its textured black synthetic grips with the S&W logo offer a firm hold, while the standard Performance Center stamp on the right side of the frame marks its elite lineage. With only 386 compact models produced and serial numbers reportedly starting as low as TSW0001, the 3566 Performance Center Compact stands as a rare and desirable piece of Smith & Wesson history—an innovative bridge between high-performance engineering and collectible artistry.
