The Smith & Wesson Model 38, also known as the Bodyguard Airweight, is a double/single-action revolver chambered in .38 Special, built on the alloy J-frame with early four-screw construction and a shrouded hammer design. It was offered with 2-inch pinned barrels, with some production of 3-inch barrels reported. Typically, in a round-butt configuration and finished in blued or nickel, including variations featuring a nickel cylinder with a blued frame and barrel.
