This particular example will ship with two additional barrels: one factory 5.5" barrel, and one Clark 5.5" Threaded barrel equipped with a Burris Fastfire 3 8MOA Red Dot Reflex Sight.
The Clark’s 5.5" threaded barrel for the Smith & Wesson Model 41 is a discontinued upgrade that’s become increasingly hard to find, which is exactly why it’s so desirable among serious Model 41 shooters and collectors. Clark Custom’s barrels have long been respected for their precision and competition-minded performance, and the threaded 5.5" configuration is especially sought-after because it adds modern suppressor capability to one of the finest American target pistols ever made. With production discontinued and demand steady, clean examples surface only occasionally—making this a rare, high-demand accessory that can meaningfully elevate both the utility and collectability of a Model 41 setup.

The Smith & Wesson Model 41 is a precision-engineered, semi-automatic target pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle, designed specifically for competitive shooting. It features a 10-round magazine, a fully adjustable rear sight, and a patridge undercut front sight for superior sight alignment. Finely checkered walnut grips with a modified thumb rest complement its deep-blue finish over an all–carbon steel frame and slide. The wide 0.365-inch trigger incorporates Smith & Wesson’s signature grooving and an adjustable stop, while the concealed hammer contributes to the pistol’s clean, streamlined profile. Between 1957 and 1978, the Model 41 was produced with a cocking indicator—a small protruding pin located at the rear of the frame beneath the slide. Barrel configurations included 5", 5.5", and 7 3/8" lengths. The 7 3/8" barrel variant was fitted with a removable muzzle brake and an internally threaded weight, available in alloy or steel.

Heavy-barrel 5.5" versions were occasionally equipped with extended front sights. Disassembly is accomplished by locking the slide to the rear and lowering the trigger guard, which allows both the barrel and slide to lift free from the frame. Smith & Wesson offered several factory accessories for the Model 41, including Olympic-style counterweights in alloy (light) or steel (heavy). Two steel lower sections were available to clamp directly to the barrel recess on the 7" and 7 3/8" models. Other options included an oversized trigger guard and a .22 Short conversion kit. Design refinements appeared throughout production. Around serial number 16,000, relief cuts were added at the rear of the trigger guard; by serial number 27,500, the model designation was moved from the left side of the frame to the right. In 1978, cost-reduction measures brought the discontinuation of the cocking indicator, the elimination of the 7 3/8" barrel, and the introduction of a 7" barrel. Notably, slides and barrels were never serialized to their frames. Although its design work began in 1941, development was halted during World War II and resumed in 1947. Full production commenced in 1957 and continues to this day. The Model 41 is part of Smith & Wesson’s Semi-Auto series, with serial numbering beginning in the A140000 range (circa February 1971). A clerical duplication in serials A140001–A140604 was discovered in 1973, and corrected pistols were reissued with both an “A” prefix and suffix, resulting in the unique range A140001A–A140604A.
