The Smith & Wesson Model 49 is the steel-framed member of S&W’s Bodyguard family — a compact, five-shot, J-frame revolver introduced as the heavy-frame counterpart to the lightweight Airweight Bodyguard and meant expressly for deep concealment where snag-free draw and stout construction were both priorities.
