Item Description

Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this double-action revolver today for a penny-start auction; this is the Smith & Wesson 627-2.

This Smith & Wesson Model 627-2, serial number CCU2362, features a 5-inch barrel, round butt MIM frame, unfluted six-shot cylinder, smooth trigger, and a gold bead front sight, fitted with Hogue finger-groove grips bearing Smith & Wesson medallions; notably, the barrel is laser-etched in cursive with “Smith & Wesson” on the left side and “.357 Magnum” on the right, a detail that distinguishes it from standard production examples. Based on our independent research—including online sources and Supica & Nahas’s Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 4th Edition—these revolvers are believed to have been assembled from spare or leftover components and lack Performance Center branding, and are associated with product codes #148218, #148327, and #149140, the latter originally identified as a Lew Horton exclusive, though available information suggests Lew Horton may have received as few as 10 examples of this exact configuration; however, while these claims are widely circulated among collectors, we cannot independently confirm them, and they should be regarded as informed but unverified research rather than documented factory confirmation.
