Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this eye-catching variant of a double-action revolver for a penny-start auction; this is the Smith & Wesson 632-1, also known as the .327 Magnum Stainless!
Introduced in 2008 at the Las Vegas SHOT Show, the .327 Federal Magnum cartridge brought a new level of performance to compact revolvers. Initially chambered only in the Ruger SP101, it wasn't until January 2009 that Smith & Wesson responded with a robust variation of their Model 632—this time featuring an all-stainless steel frame and cylinder, a 3-inch profile-style barrel with a compensator port, and black-accented finish paired with adjustable rear and pinned ramp front sights.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 632-1 in .327 Federal Magnum is a refined revolver that represents a unique chapter in S&W’s effort to combine potent firepower with everyday carry practicality. Introduced in January 2009, this model was part of Smith & Wesson’s "Pro Comp Carry Series" and featured a robust all-stainless-steel construction built to handle the higher pressures of the relatively new .327 Federal Magnum cartridge, which had been unveiled just a year earlier. The revolver sports a 3-inch profile-style barrel complete with a compensator port near the muzzle to reduce muzzle rise and felt recoil—enhancing control during rapid fire. The design includes an adjustable rear sight and a pinned ramp front sight mounted on a raised base, offering solid target acquisition in both defensive and recreational shooting scenarios. A 6-shot cylinder, slightly longer at 1.59 inches, offers an additional round over traditional .38 Special or .357 Magnum J-frame revolvers, setting it apart in terms of firepower for its compact size.

In terms of features and construction, the Model 632-1 blends strength, comfort, and versatility. The revolver’s stainless-steel frame and cylinder are complemented by carbon steel internal components and a smooth-faced trigger optimized for controlled double-action use. A shrouded extractor rod enhances both aesthetics and durability, while S&W-branded rubber grips ensure a secure hold under recoil. The revolver also includes S&W’s internal lock safety mechanism, a controversial but integral feature on many of the company's models from this era. The frame is a round-butt design, helping with concealment and comfort, and the entire firearm weighs approximately 24.5 ounces—light enough for carry but heavy enough to manage the punch of the .327 Magnum. While production was limited and relatively short-lived, the 632-1 stands as a unique blend of power, compact design, and thoughtful engineering, making it a prized find for revolver collectors and practical shooters alike.
